Pianoforall Review

from Alan Moore

Product description

Pianoforall reviewPianoforall (or Piano For All) is the brainchild of Robin Hall, who seems a down-to-earth guy (he has many complimentary testimonials on his site), although I can't vouch for his professional credentials.

Like the other programs reviewed on this site, it is available as a downloadable package or you can purchase a physical product containing all the teaching materials.

A nice touch is the facility to buy individual modules separately, so you can choose the materials that interest you the most. However, it is more cost-effective to buy the whole package together.

Product Research

The course is a little un-traditional in that it doesn't begin with the dreaded sight reading but builds a solid foundation using chords, rhythms, patterns, riffs and chord embellishments and then you build on top of that and learn to play by ear and sight as you go along.

Here's what you get (and it's pretty comprehensive!):

  • 500 audio lessons
  • 200 video lessons
  • 10 piano books: Party Time, Shake...Rattle 'n' Roll, Chord Magic, Advanced Chords Made Easy, Ballad Style, Jazz Piano Made Easy, Advanced Blues Piano & Fake Stride, Taming the Classics, Speed Learning and Bumper Resource Book

This does appear to be a suitable course for all levels of piano player and the inclusion of jazz styles of playing is a welcome addition.

Now, even though I have little information about Robin Hall, he does seem to offer a very personal level of support and gives all his students a personal email where he can be contacted if there are any question or problems arising from the course materials. This is very handy and should not be overlooked. Remember, you are learning via the internet not your local piano teacher, so you are going to run into problems at some time.

$39.95 gets you the whole program (currently at half price, although many of the programs we reviewed seem to be permanently on a half price sale!). Individual books can be purchased separately, starting at $9.95 and there is also the facility to order bundles of books.

There's a 100% money-back guarantee available for 60 days so this should give you time to evaluate the materials.

How does it differ from the other programs?

Well, I like the way Robin tries to avoid 'traditional' teaching methods but still manages to provide a solid grounding. This is his 'Secret' method. Of course, it's not really 'secret' but I agree that learning to play 'Oh Suzanna' is not going to inspire a beginner. Learning different styles is definitely the way forward.

The integration of audio and video lessons into the ebooks is very handy indeed and a great time-saver.

So, definitely worth a look in terms of the sheer amount of material available and at a very reasonable price.
