EASY MODE ($129.95 but seems to be sold out at present)

Piano Wizard EASY MODE is the basic version of their video game that claims to be able to teach anyone how to play the piano and read music in minutes. A digital piano keyboard hooked up to your PC or Mac is needed.

You learn to play the piano while enjoying a fun and engaging game. The game's animated interface delivers positive feedback in living color, making it instantly obvious how to press the right key at the right time.

	Choose from 100 included songs.
	Built-in curriculum covering basic piano fundamentals.
	Learn how to play a real piano by playing a game.
	Experience the basics of musical notation.

Piano Wizard's patented 4-Step method has won numerous awards for its simplicity, fun and effectiveness.

PREMIER ($199.95)

Piano Wizard PREMIER is the complete version of their video game. In addition to the EASY MODE version, it includes many advanced features to enhance both the fun and learning power of Piano Wizard.

	Choose from 200 included songs.
	Expand the game by importing your choice of standard MIDI files.
	Learn the basics of musical notation.

There is a patented 4-Step method to have fun and learn to play a real piano. As you improve, the program allows you to test yourself on reading notes, memorization, and precision playing.

The facility to add in your own choice of standard MIDI files is also very useful.

ACADEMY ($549.95)

Piano Wizard ACADEMY includes everything in PREMIER plus 50 lessons on DVD's. It covers the transition from playing a game to playing on a real piano. The package covers all the elements of basic musicianship, and is claimed to be comparable to the first year of private piano instruction.

The video tutorials features the piano teaching team of Don and Delayna Beattie, who teach the first fifty songs in an inspirational and entertaining style. The video lessons include songs, improvisation, singing, and dancing.

Don and Delayna use an easy-to-follow commentary as they introduce the essentials of basic music theory:

	Phrasing			Posture
	Fingering			Composers
	Scales			Dynamics
	Harmony			Technique

The ACADEMY also includes a copy of sheet music for the 50 songs, so you can practice the same songs on a real piano with real sheet music.

Piano Wizard claims that this method, used by mainstream and special needs kids alike, has been hailed as a "breakthrough in music education."

WHAT I THINK

This certainly looks a very comprehensive series of piano lessons and looks very entertaining indeed, especially for kids. It encourages parents and children to play together on the same keyboard which is always a good idea to keep children entertained as well as learning!

The game and learning tool is suitable for children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Piano Wizard also has a track record with mentally and physically challenged children.

Learning note names, fingering and the ability to control the tempo are good features of the program.

Obviously, the cost is significantly higher than many of the other programs reviewed on these pages. I would suggest that you read all my reviews before making your mind up about which one is the best for you or your children. The Piano Wizard is certainly one of the most entertaining I've come across and this might be important if you, or your son/daughter, feel that you might get bored quickly. Remember, learning to play the piano competently is going to take time, stamina and patience. If you struggle with these things then maybe this piano method is worth a look, despite the higher price.
